Caddx Networx is a GE Automation Alarm/Home Automation system, similar to a 'low-end' Comfort system. The version in use here is the NX-8E as that has built in RS-232. Other versions of the panel require an additional card.
The system was imported without PSU or battery and these have been sourced in the UK and added - 16V toroidal transformer and standard 7.2Ah Gel-Cell. There are UK/EU versions but I've not been able to find them, which is a shame.
The great advantage of the Networx range is the ability to get information on the status out of the alarm system and into home automation. This has been done for a number of the US HA systems.
However, the system here is xAP
based and therefore needs a conduit/connector. One was already written in Perl
for the Misterhouse by Chris Witte and Greg Limings had some xAP Perl code. Put
the two together and add a bit and a basic conduit was hacked
created.
In the long term an xAP Framework application will be written that can run as a service...in the meantime.
Zone 6 is the PIR in the kitchen/dining area.
And the above shot shows the arming of Partition 1.
